by Stephenie Meyer
This is different from any other books Stephenie Meyer has written. This is CIA-type spy suspense, think Jason Bourne but a female. The Chemist knows her way around chemicals and she isn’t afraid to use.
Alex is on the run from the government agency she used to work for. They want her dead. Using every skill, she has to stay alive and ahead of her enemy. Until her former handler contacts her, promising her that they will stop hunting her if she helps them one last time. However, as she dives into the assignment, it proves to be more complicated than what she initially believed, and now she has an additional liability on her shoulders that she feels compelled to protect.
After kidnapping and interrogating a man who seems like an ordinary all-American guy, but who her government contact claims to be involved in an impending biological weapons attack on several major US cities. She learns some very unexpected things while doing her job, one of which is that she’s been duped. Of course, with that being the case, the governmental forces are still after her, so she, her suspect, and a third man end up on the run yet again, while trying to figure out a way to get the upper hand and stay alive.
I also loved the presence of animals in the story. Einstein, Kahn, and Lola made this story so much better and these three were extraordinary characters.
“The Chemist” has a lot to offer a variety of people. It’s entertaining, full of action but also there is some romance. If you like a book that has some fast-paced suspense then this book is for you.
Stephenie Meyer is best known for her four-book Twilight series, which has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 37 languages
