Ten terrible dinosaurs standing in a line, soon began to mess about until there were… nine.

This lively counting book, first published in 1997 and now reissued as a new edition, is based on the characters from Dinosaur Roar!, a picture book that is now recognised as a modern classic. The rhyming text encourages children to join in, helping them to learn their numbers as they count down from 10 to 1, ending with a wonderful loud ROAR!

My Review

These are two fun books that any child would love to read, or be read too. I know as I was on the phone to my daughter and I was telling her about these gorgeously illustrated books and I ended up reading them both to her. Once I had finished she said she had put me on speaker phone so my other daughter could hear. They had fun listening to mum reading them a couple of books. The funny thing is my girls are 22 and 19, so if big kids can enjoy these books I am sure that children of every age will thoroughly enjoy them too.

The illustrations in both books is in glorious full colour.

In Dinosaurs Roar the fun rhyming text is perfect for reading aloud. The very simple text in this book is a great way for children to learn and recognise words like fast, slow, weak, strong, short, long and many other describing words. The illustrations really help the children grasp the different words.

Included in this book is a pull-out poster in the back of the book showing the dinosaur characters, which can be put up on their wall for them to enjoy.

wp-image7180721159086118829.jpgIn Ten Terrible Dinosaurs we have ten fun playful dinosaurs. Each time the page is turned, another dinosaur is gone – stuck up in a tree, flew away or got taken home. Until there is just one weary dinosaur left, snoring quietly, until his other nine friends reappear.

This book is great for young children learning to count one to ten, with a 1-10 spread on the back where they can practice their counting.

Highly recommended for kids of all ages but especially those obsessed with dinosaurs.
